About the Event

Jewish tradition separates the 613 commandments into numerous categories including spiritual (mitzvot bein adam la'makom - commandments between humanity and the divine) and interpersonal (mitzvot bein adam la'haveiro - commandments between humanity and community). Around 10% of the 613 commandments in Judaism relate to a person's relationship with the soil, or what I am calling mitzvot bein adam la'adamah - commandments between humanity and the earth. In this series, over 5 weeks, we will explore a selection of these commandments and seek to discern the inherent expressed value and deepen our own personal, communal, and collective relationship with the soil. This is an especially potent investigation in the Shmitah year, the year of agricultural remission. All sessions are recorded and distributed. Sliding scale. No experience necessary.
